Flow Simulation is the numerical modelling of fluid flow and heat transfer using computational techniques. This is usually referred to as Computational Fluid Dynamics or CFD.
CFD allows engineers, designers and scientists to investigate the behaviour of fluids (both gases and liquids) in detail and simulate their interaction with surfaces defined by boundary conditions. These surfaces could be an aircraft, building, train, valve, turbine, or even a human heart.
